Skin Needling - Scalp
Collagen induction, adapted for the scalp.
A medical treatment that may help support the scalp environment in early-stage hair thinning by creating controlled micro-channels in the tissue around the follicle. At The Haus, scalp needling is used as one part of a wider, Aesthetic Nurse-led plan, under Plastic Surgeon governance,, never a stand-alone cure. Suitability is assessed in a one-on-one consultation with a registered nurse or medical practitioner.

Hair thinning is influenced by many factors, genetics, hormones, nutritional status, medications, stress and general health. Changes in the scalp environment, microcirculation and the local signalling around the follicle can also contribute over time.
Medical skin needling (also called microneedling or collagen induction therapy) applies the same principles used on facial skin to the scalp, delivered at a depth and density appropriate for that tissue. It is increasingly used as an adjunct in early-stage pattern hair thinning, particularly alongside appropriate medical management.
This treatment is not a substitute for prescription medical therapy and is not appropriate for advanced hair loss. Whether it is suitable, and what realistic outcomes look like for you, is determined in a one-on-one consultation with your practitioner, who will review your medical history, hair-loss pattern, scalp condition and any prior treatment before recommending a plan.
Hair-related treatments are slow, cumulative and most effective when started early. Results vary between individuals and no outcome can be guaranteed.
The mechanism, in plain language.
Fine, sterile needles create hundreds of controlled micro-channels across the area of thinning. This triggers the body's natural wound-healing response in the scalp tissue.
The healing cascade is thought to up-regulate local growth factors and signalling pathways involved in the hair cycle, and to support the connective tissue and microcirculation around the follicle.
The micro-channels also allow short-term enhanced absorption of any clinician-applied topical formulation used at the time of treatment, which is one reason needling is often paired with adjunctive scalp serums.
Exosome Scalp Serum + Skin Needling
A regenerative signalling layer, applied through fresh micro-channels.
Exosomes are tiny extracellular vesicles naturally released by cells. The clinician-applied scalp formulations used at The Haus contain a concentrated blend of exosome-derived signalling factors, peptides and supporting actives designed to be used topically over freshly needled scalp tissue. Exosome scalp serums are not a prescription medicine and are used as an adjunct only, not as a treatment for hair loss in their own right.
On their own, exosome-based topicals are intended to support the scalp environment and the local signalling around the follicle. Applied immediately after needling, the open micro-channels are thought to improve uptake compared with topical application onto intact skin.
The pairing is considered as an adjunct to a wider, Aesthetic Nurse-led plan, under Plastic Surgeon governance,, typically alongside appropriate medical therapy and lifestyle review. It is not a guaranteed treatment for hair regrowth, and outcomes vary between individuals.
Suitability, the role of any adjunct and realistic expectations are reviewed at consultation. A short course is generally recommended, with progress assessed against a baseline at follow-up.

- · Used as an adjunct within a broader hair plan
- · Applied topically, no additional injections
Patients in early-stage pattern hair thinning who are already engaged with, or being assessed for, appropriate medical management, and who would like to consider an adjunctive scalp protocol alongside needling.
Session, settling, results.
Every treatment begins with a one-on-one consultation. Your practitioner will ask about your hair-loss history, general health, medications and any previous treatment, and assess your scalp and hair pattern. Pricing is discussed transparently once a plan is agreed, we do not advertise prices online, in line with TGA rules for prescription medicines and related clinical services.
A treatment session typically takes 30-45 minutes. Topical anaesthetic is not always required for the scalp; discomfort is generally mild and brief.
Mild redness and tenderness of the scalp for around 24 hours is normal. Hair washing is usually deferred for 24 hours and vigorous exercise, swimming and direct sun exposure are typically avoided for the first day.
A course of 4-6 sessions, spaced approximately 4 weeks apart, is typical, followed by a maintenance schedule. Any change in hair density develops gradually over months and is assessed against a baseline at follow-up, outcomes are individual and not guaranteed.
All cosmetic procedures carry risks.
All procedures carry risk. Outcomes vary between individuals and no treatment can be guaranteed. The list below is a guide only - full risks and side effects will be discussed in your in-person consultation.
Common: scalp redness, tenderness, mild scaling, pinpoint bleeding, transient itching.
Less common: small areas of pinpoint bruising, short-term scalp irritation, flare of pre-existing scalp conditions such as dermatitis or folliculitis, post-inflammatory pigmentation in higher Fitzpatrick skin types.
Rare but serious: infection, scarring.
This treatment is not suitable over active scalp infection, inflammatory scalp conditions or open lesions, during pregnancy or breastfeeding, in some autoimmune conditions, where there is a history of keloid scarring, or where there is a known allergy to any product used during treatment. Exosome-based topicals are not suitable for everyone, suitability of any adjunct is confirmed at consultation.
