The neck often shows age before the face. Our Aesthetic Nurse-led consultations, under Plastic Surgeon governance, review the skin, muscle and structural changes contributing to neck ageing before any treatment is considered.
The skin of the neck is thinner, has fewer oil glands and less structural support than the face, so it loses elasticity earlier and more visibly. Add years of sun exposure, repetitive movement and the downward pull of gravity, and the neck quietly tells the story the face is still hiding.
Common changes include crepey, finely lined skin across the front of the neck, horizontal 'necklace' lines, vertical platysmal bands that become more visible at rest, softening of the jawline, and laxity extending down to the décolletage. None of these need to be erased, the goal is a quieter, more refined line that sits comfortably with the rest of the face.

Vertical bands that become more visible with age and muscle activity can be softened to refine the line of the neck and support a more relaxed jawline.
Necklace Lines
Horizontal creases across the front of the neck are influenced by posture, skin quality and repetitive movement. They are typically addressed with skin-focused treatments rather than volume.
Crepey Skin
Fine, papery texture across the neck reflects loss of dermal quality. A measured plan focuses on supporting hydration, collagen and elasticity over time.
Jawline Definition
Softening of the jaw and submental area is reviewed alongside the neck. Where appropriate, conservative support can refine the transition from face to neck.
Décolletage
Sun-related changes, fine lines and loss of skin quality across the upper chest are assessed as a continuation of the neck rather than a separate zone.
