Volume Replacement
Restoring structure with restraint.
A medical treatment that may help re-support areas of the face affected by age-related volume loss. The focus at The Haus is restoring natural contour and balance, never changing the way you look. Suitability is assessed in a one-on-one consultation with a registered nurse or medical practitioner.

Facial volume loss is a normal part of ageing, but may also be accelerated by environmental and lifestyle factors. Common contributors include gradual decline in collagen and elastin, loss and redistribution of facial fat pads, remodelling of facial bone in the mid and lower face, UV exposure and oxidative stress, hormonal change, significant weight change and genetics.
The result is often a flatter or more sunken appearance, with less support through the mid and lower face. You may also notice deeper folds - such as nasolabial or marionette lines - or a less defined jawline and cheek structure.
Volume-related concerns we may be able to help support include:
- - Cheek and midface support
- - Jawline and chin refinement
- - Under-eye hollowing (tear troughs)
- - Lip volume and structure
- - Temples and pre-jowl area
- - Smile lines and marionette folds
- - Non-surgical nose refinement
- - Facial balancing and symmetry
Every face is different. Your practitioner will carefully assess your individual anatomy and recommend a tailored plan that complements your natural features. The focus is always on refreshed, balanced results - not changing the way you look.
The mechanism, in plain language.
Volume replacement uses a substance based on a sugar molecule that occurs naturally in the body, where it helps attract and retain water and provide structural support to the tissues.
As part of the natural ageing process, collagen and elastin production gradually decrease, which may contribute to volume loss and changes in skin texture. Following a medical assessment, small amounts of product may be placed into the layer of the face where support has been lost - either deep against bone to re-create projection, or more superficially to refine contour, soften folds or improve hydration.
If a result needs to be modified or reversed, the product can usually be dissolved by a medical practitioner using an enzyme treatment. This is itself a medical procedure with its own risks.
Session, settling, results.
Treatment is preceded by a medical consultation where your history, anatomy and goals are reviewed. As part of this process you will complete a medical and psychological suitability questionnaire. Specific product names, treatment plans and pricing are discussed in person and are not advertised, in line with TGA requirements.
An individual session typically takes 30-60 minutes. Topical or local anaesthetic may be used at the practitioner's discretion for comfort.
Some clients notice an initial change within the first few days. The full effect usually becomes more visible over the following one to two weeks as the product settles. A review appointment is recommended to assess settling. Responses vary from person to person.
Results are not permanent and additional treatment may be required over time to maintain the result. Outcomes vary between individuals and cannot be guaranteed.
All cosmetic procedures carry risks.
All medical procedures carry risk. Outcomes vary between individuals, and no treatment can be guaranteed. The information below is a guide only - full risks, contraindications and side effects relevant to you will be discussed in your in-person consultation.
Common, usually self-limiting: redness, swelling or tenderness at the treatment site; bruising that can vary from mild to more noticeable; itching or discomfort.
Less common: small lumps or unevenness in the treated area, asymmetry, prolonged swelling, infection, late-onset inflammation or hypersensitivity reaction.
Rare but serious: vascular occlusion - inadvertent injection into or compression of a blood vessel - which can cause skin necrosis or, very rarely, visual loss including blindness. Early recognition and immediate medical management is critical, which is why this treatment is performed only by appropriately trained medical practitioners with emergency protocols available on site.
Not suitable during active infection at the treatment site, in some autoimmune or bleeding conditions, during pregnancy or breastfeeding, with certain medications, or with a known hypersensitivity to product components. Your practitioner will assess suitability at consultation.
